A neomycin resistance gene was inserted into exon 4 which encodes the ankyrin-repeat domain. Transcripts were undetectable by RT-PCR and Northern blot in trigeminal root and dorsal root ganglia of homozygous animals. Immunohistochemical staining of the dorsal root ganglion confirmed the success of gene disruption. (J:84093)
