The insertion of a triple point mutation resulted in a missense mutation of the codon encoding the selenocysteine as well as of the codon immediately upstream. A floxed neo cassette was also incorporated into the untranslated region of the gene. Endogenous activity was undetected in the heads and bodies of homozygous mutant mice. The neomycin cassette was subsequently removed by crossing to a mouse carrying a cre transgene on the X chromosome. (J:80434, J:105434)
