As in Mafftm1Jeng, the entire coding region, except for the first 3 codons, was replaced with a cassette containing lacZ and a floxed selection region. Prior to implantation and germline transmission, the floxed region was excised via cre mediated recombination, leaving lacZ intact. (J:56405)
