The gene was disrupted by replacement of a 201 bp region spanning parts of exon 1 and intron 1 with a neomycin resistance cassette via homologous recombination. Absence of gene expression in homozygous mutant animals was confirmed by Western blot analysis of brain extracts. (J:75496)
