The gene was disrupted by replacement of exon 1 and part of intron 1 with a neomycin resistance cassette via homologous recombination. Absence of gene expression in homozygous mutant animals was confirmed by Northern and Western blot analysis of samples from the pancreas, stomach, and small intestines. (J:75167)
