The 5' UTR, exon 1, and a portion of intron 1 were replaced with a neomycin selection cassette inserted by homologous recombination. Neither transcript nor protein was detected in homozygous mutant mice by Northern and Western blot analyses of neonatal lung tissue. RT-PCR analysis confirmed the absence of transcript in homozygous mutant brain and kidney tissue. (J:82687)
