A genomic fragment encompassing a portion of exon 2 and all of exons 3, 4, and 5 was replaced with a beta-geo cassette inserted by homologous recombination. Transcript and protein levels in heterozygous mutant mice were shown to be approximately half of those in wild-type mice by Northern and Western blot analysis. (J:70397)
