A cDNA sequence encoding EGFP was inserted in place of the start codon in exon 2 of the endogenous locus. A single loxP site remained between the EGFP sequence and the coding region of exon 2. Expression of EGFP was detected in all hempatopoietic tissues of heterozygous mutant mice. The insertion did not disrupt the expression patterns of neighboring genes, Ly6i and Ly6e. (J:82052)
