A 3.2 kb fragment encompassing exons 8 and 9 was replaced with a PGK-hrpt cassette inserted in the opposite orientation by homologous recombination. The deleted region encoded the catalytic domain. Neither transcript nor protein was detected in homozygous mutant brain tissue by Northern and Western blot analyses. (Corrected information communicated to MGI by author.) (J:58116)
