A fragment extending from within exon 6 through a portion of exon 7 (corresponding to cDNA nt 611 through 3440) was replaced with a neomycin selection cassette inserted by homologous recombination. An absence L and S isoforms was verifed on both mRNA and protein levels by Northern and Western blot analyses of sciatic nerves. (J:62566)
