This mutation is a deletion that includes the D17Aus9 locus. It was generated by homologous recombination of a neomycin/thymidine kinase selection cassette into the D17Aus9 locus in ES cells, then irradiating these cells and selecting for cell lines that no longer expressed thymidine kinase.
