The transgene consists of a human COL2A1 minigene deleted for introns 15-27. The minigene lacks 291 out of 1523 codons and produces an in-frame transcript. Western blot analysis of chondrocyte extracts from transgenic animals confirmed expression of a shortened human protein. (J:31511)
