Exon 1 and 1.6 kb of upstream sequence was replaced with a PGK-neo cassette inserted by homologous recombination. Northern blot analysis of uterine RNA obtained from pregnant homozygous mutant mice indicated an absence of normal transcript. Endogenous protein was undetected by Western blot analysis of total membrane extracts from homozygous mutant pancreatic and uterine tissues. (J:80980)
