The endogenous locus was modified to contain a stop codon in exon 7 and single loxP sites flanking exons 7, 8, and 9. The mutation was designed to specifically target the alpha isoform, which contains exon 7. RT-PCR analysis showed reduced levels of mRNA, putatively due to nonsense mediated decay. (J:81107)
