Sequence encompassing a portion of exon 6 and all of exon 7 was replaced with a neomycin selection cassette inserted by homologous recombination. The deleted region encoded a portion of transmembrane domain 2 and all of transmembrane domains 3 and 4. Protein was undetected by Western blot analysis of brain tissue obtained from homozygous mutant mice. (J:80901)
