The gene was disrupted by insertion of a lacZ-neo-derived cassette into the second coding exon of the gene. Absence of gene expression in homozygous animals was confirmed by Northern blot analysis of whole embryo RNA. X-gal staining of mutant embryos revealed lacZ expression in cartilage tissue. (J:80666)
