The transgene consists of a rat Abpa promoter and a human FSHR minigene. The FSHR minigene contains exon 1, a shortened intron 1 lacking the midregion, and exons 2-10 with no intervening introns. The minigene also includes a mutation causing an aspartic acid to glycine change at amino acid residue 567. The rat Abpa promoter directs transgene expression in Sertoli cells. Transgene expression was confirmed by RT-PCR analysis of testes and ovary total RNA; expression was also detected in the brain and, at lower levels, in the pituitary. (J:79967)
