A neomycin selection cassette replaced exon 2, which encodes the entire protein except for the signal peptide. An absence of transcript was demonstrated by Northern blot analysis of homozygous mutant mice. No protein was detected by flow cytometric analysis of platelets obtained from homozygous mutant mice.
