Exon 2 was replaced with a neomycin selection cassette inserted by homologous recombination. The deleted exon encoded the majority of the protein, lacking only sequence encoding the signal peptide. mRNA was undetected in homozygous mutant mice by Northern blot analysis. (J:51648)
