Exons 4 and 5 were replaced with a neomycin selection cassette. The deleted sequence encoded the conserved cyclin box involved in the binding of cell cycle division 2. While neither mRNA nor protein was detected in homozygous mutant mice by Northern and Western blot analyses, 5' and amino terminal fragments were expected in vivo. (J:47430)
