Exons 2 and 3 where replaced with a neomycin selection cassette inserted by homologous recombination. The deleted region encoded six of the seven transmembrane domains. Ligand binding assays demonstrated the absence of a functional protein product. Phenotypic observations further indicated the ablation of both receptor subtypes. (J:47187)
