A 5' portion of exon 2 was deleted by the insertion of a neomycin selection cassette. RT-PCR analysis demonstrated the absence of normal transcript in mutant mice. Functional ablation was demonstrated by monitoring body temperature after the administration of gastrin releasing peptide (Grp). A ligand binding assay further confirmed the absence of functional protein. (J:43565)
