A self-excising neomycin resistance cassette was inserted into the homeodomain of Hoxa3. The targeting construct is composed of a mouse testes-specific Ace promoter fused to the cre recombinase and neomycin resistance genes. The entire construct is flanked by loxP sites and undergoes self-excision during spermiogenesis, leaving behind a single loxP insertion sequence. (J:79620)
