The gene was disrupted by replacement of exons 1-3 with a neomycin resistance cassette via homologous recombination. Absence of gene expression in homozygous mutant animals was verified by RT-PCR analysis of total RNA from eyes and kidneys, and by Western blot analysis of eye protein extracts. (J:77619)
