The majority of exon 2 was deleted and replaced with a neomycin resistance cassette via homologous recombination. Exon 2 encodes all but 71 nucleotides of the open reading frame. Absence of gene expression was confirmed by in situ hybridization analysis of brain sections from postnatal day 15 homozygous mutant animals. (J:71116)
