A retroviral gene trap vector, containing cre recombinase and U3 sequences, integrated into intron 5 in a reverse transcriptional orientation. A 98% reduction in mRNA levels was identified in homozygous mutant mice by Northern blot analysis. Western blot analysis results were correlative. The insertion of the vector is thought to interfere with the splicing of this gene. (J:47007, J:78819)
