The coding region of exon 1 was deleted and replaced with a lacZ-PGK-neo cassette. Northern blot analysis of brain mRNA from homozygous mutant animals confirmed the absence of gene expression. However, the lacZ gene was not expressed as originally intended. (J:68814)
