The entire coding region of the gene was replaced with a neomycin resistance cassette via homologous recombination. Northern blot analysis of brain mRNA from homozygous mutant animals did not detect gene expression. Immunohistochemical analysis of brain sections from homozygous animals confirmed the absence of gene expression. (J:68831)
