Exons 2-7 were replaced by an internal ribosomal entry site (IRES) followed by a betageo (beta-galactosidase/neomycin resistance) cassette via homologous recombination so that beta-galactosidase is expressed from the endogenous promoter. Homozygous mutant embryos were observed up to day E8.5. (J:68356, J:167984)
