The gene was disrupted by replacement of sequences spanning exon 1 to intron 3 with a neomycin resistance cassette. The mutation deletes amino acids 20-100. Northern blot and RT-PCR analysis of lung samples from homozygous mutant animals did not detect gene expression. In situ hybridization of various tissues from homozygous animals using antibodies against the protein confirmed the null allele. (J:61336)
