The gene was disrupted by insertion of a PGK-neo cassette into exon 2. No mature mRNA was detected in homozygous mutant animals via Northern blot of lung tissue, but a faint band of smaller size was observed. RT-PCR and sequence analysis revealed the product was an alternatively spliced transcript from exon 1 to exon 3, bypassing exon 2. No protein product was detected in alveolar lavage from homozygous mutant animals. (J:69619)
