Exon 1, which is the first coding exon, was replaced with a cassette containing cre and neo. RT-PCR indicated an absence of normal transcript in homozygous mice. Normal protein was undetected by Western blot analysis of skin extracts and by immunohistochemical analysis of embryonic retinal pigment epithelium. (J:89896)
