The entire coding region of the endogenous gene was replaced with a neomycin selection cassette via homologous recombination. Northern blot analysis of total RNA isolated from skin samples showed an absence of transcript in homozygous mutant mice. A lack of protein was confirmed by both Western blot analysis and in situ hybridization. (J:65192)
