A neomycin selection cassette was inserted into the terminal exon which encodes the DNA binding and leucine zipper domains. Northern blot and RT-PCR analysis demonstrated that a mutant 7 kb transcript was expressed from this allele, but immunoblot analysis confirmed that no detectable protein was encoded by this allele.
