The entire coding region of the gene was replaced with an in-frame lacZ gene followed by a loxP flanked neomycin selection cassette. The neomycin selection cassette was removed in ES cells by transient Cre expression prior to the production of chimeric mice. Northern blot analysis on RNA derived from brain of homozygous mice demonstrated that no detectable transcript was expressed from this allele. (J:69606)
