Krt6a/Krt6b^tm1Cou

Two closely linked genes were deleted using a single targeting event. The entire Krt2-6a gene, 13 kb of intergenic sequences, and the first half of Krt2-6b exon 1 were replaced with a neomycin resistance cassette via homologous recombination. RT-PCR and Northern blot analysis of cultured keratinocytes derived from homozygous mutant animals did not detect Krt2-6a or Krt2-6b transcripts, however a probe to the neo gene yielded positive results.
