A neomycin resistance cassette containing a human beta actin promoter replaced a genomic sequence encompassing exons 3 and 4. Northern blot analyses of liver and brain did not detect mRNA in homozygous mutant mice. Enzyme function analyses of tissues from homozygous mutant mice detected less than 5% of wild-type enzyme levels in liver and did not detect enzyme in brain. (J:45085)
