The insertion of a neomycin selection cassette deleted exon 1. Northern blot analysis of testicular and ovarian RNA showed that the deletion was sufficient for abbrogating the expression of all known isoforms. The absence of functional protein in homozygous mutant mice was confirmed by lableled ligand binding assays of testis. (J:50933)
