A 3 kb region of the gene including exon 1 and the translation initiation site was replaced with a neomycin resistance cassette via homologous recombination. Southern blot analysis confirmed correct targeting of the allele and Western blot of plasma confirmed the absence of gene expression in homozygous mutant animals. (J:78092)
