Exon 1 was disrupted by the insertion of a neomycin selection cassette into a XhoI site. Neither of the two known splice variants were detected in homozygous mutant mice by Northern blot or RT-PCR analyses of adult kidney tissue. Western blot analysis of blood plasma showed an absence of encoded protein. (J:71581)
