Exons 2-4 were replaced with a PGK-neo cassette via homologous recombination. Northern blot analysis detected a mutant Muc2-neo hybrid mRNA in homozygous mutant animals predicted to encode the first 26 amino acids of Muc2. Immunohistochemistry of intestine sections from homozygous mutants did not detect protein product. (J:75047)
