The entire mouse Sod1 gene with an engineered glycine to arginine mutation at residue 86 (G86R) of exon 4 was used as the transgene. Mutation G86R corresponds to the SOD1 G85R mutation found in some cases of human amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients. Founder M3 exhibited high transgene expression in the brain. (J:22628)
