A floxed region containing exons 2 through 4 was excised via the in vitro expression of cre recombinase. The deleted sequence encoded amino acids 65 through 224. Northern blot analysis of heterozygous mice showed an approximately 50% reduction in transcript levels, whereas transcript was undetected in homozygous mutant embryos by RT-PCR analysis. (J:77742)
