190 bp of the gene coding region was replaced with a gfp-PGK-neo cassette via homologous recombination. The gfp-PGK-neo cassette was inserted in frame after the third transmembrane domain. Northern blot analysis of kidney tissue confirmed the absence of gene expression in homozygous mutant animals. Although gfp transcripts were present in the kidneys of mutant animals, gfp activity could not be detected. (J:36090)
