A cassette containing both lacZ and neo genes was inserted in-frame in exon 2. Western blot analysis of homozygous mutant mice showed an absence of encoded protein in the cerebellum. Staining comparisons showed the expression of beta-galactosidase to be driven by the endogenous promoter. (J:77148)
