A 13.7 kb region spanning from exon 2 to exon 7 was replaced with a loxP-flanked neomycin resistance cassette via homologous recombination. Absence of gene expression was verified in brain and testicular extracts of homozygous mutant animals by Western blot analysis using a monoclonal antibody directed against a portion of the protein deleted by the gene targeting event. Phenotypic analysis in J:90400 suggests that this allele may be a hypomorph. (J:72637, J:90400)
