The gene was disrupted by insertion of a loxP-flanked PGK-hygro cassette into exon 4 via homologous recombination. The gene targeting event results in truncation of the protein at amino acid 88 and elimination of the DNA binding surface. Gene expression is strongly decreased in brain and testes of homozygous mutant animals as determined by Northern blot. Protein product was not detected in testes of homozygous mutants as determined by Western blot. (J:68789)
