The entire coding region (exons 1 through 4) was replaced by a cassette comprised of an nls-lacZ gene and a floxed neo gene. Endogenous transcript and protein were were absent from the spinal cords of homozygous mice. The expression pattern of beta-galactosidse was found to resemble that of the endogenous gene in neural progenitor cells. (J:70191)
