A region encompassing the TATA box, the transcription initiation site, and exons 1 and 2 was replaced with a floxed neo cassette that was subsequently excised via the in vitro expression of cre recombinase. Northern and Western blot analyses showed an absence of transcript and protein in homozygous mutant mice. (J:70858)
