A neomycin selection cassette was inserted into exon 3, which encodes the immunoglobulin-like domain. Transcript was detected in homozygous mutant mice via Norhtern blot analysis. RT-PCR revealed that the detected signal was that of an aberrant transcript from which exon 3 had been excised. Western blot analysis showed an absence of protein. (J:70858)
